Carroll County Area Technology Center’s electrical technology students will begin learning about solar power. A public presentation is scheduled for this evening to share information about how to incorporate solar power into a residence. ā€œI’ve always been interested in solar energy,ā€ said John ā€œTooterā€ Booth, the electrical instructor and a master electrician. He noted it was a very complicated and expensive process to utilize solar power in a family’s home, but that has changed. ā€œAnybody can install it at their home and it’s a whole lot more reasonable,ā€ Booth added His students will install a solar field behind the ATC and the study of solar energy will become part of the curriculum for his class. Nick Shelton, co-founder and owner of Dynamic Solar Systems will give the solar energy presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the CCMS auditorium. The public is invited to attend.

Several students in the gifted and talented program had the opportunity to meet with a coral cat shark and ambassadors from the Newport Aquarium to compare shark species and explore ways to take an active role in conservation efforts. During the visit, they were able to closely examine the colors and unique adaptations of coral cat sharks, gaining a deeper understanding of how these fascinating creatures have evolved to thrive in their environment. It was an educational and inspiring encounter that reinforced the importance of marine conservation. (Photos courtesy of Chasity Snow.)
